Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has approved the project to expand International Terminal 2 in Tan Son Nhat International Airport located in the country's economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City.
With a total investment of VND2,311.2 billion, the project will start in November 2014 and complete after 26 months.
Once completed, International Terminal 2 will cover an area of 115,834 square meters (up 22,000 square meters) and serve more than 13 million passengers per year (3 million more than before).
The project will be carried out in two phases. The first one will cost around VND1,523.7 billion and the second one, VND787 billion.
After six years in operation, the terminal welcomed 9.2 million guests in 2013 and expects to receive 9.8 million at the end of 2014.
By 2018, the international airport will receive 29 million passengers, including 13 million foreigners.
