Phu Quoc to receive more flights

Domestic and foreign carriers plan to increase the number of flights into and from Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang at the end of the year and the begining of 2015.

In November 2014, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will operate two air routes to Phu Quoc international airport, including Phu Quoc – Singapore with two flights a week by A321 aircraft and Phu Quoc – Siem Reap (Cambodia) with three flights a week by ATR72 aircraft.

Aiming to meet the travel demand of Russian tourists to Phu Quoc, Russia’s Pegas Touristik Company plans to operate about 186 flights, with about 30 flights a month on the Moscow – Phu Quoc route, from November 1, 2014 to April 27, 2015, peak season for Russian tourists.

The Republic of Korea’s Hanjin Travel is scheduling to operate between 2-4 flights a week from capital Seoul to Phu Quoc by Asiana Airlines’s craft.

Passenger arrivals through Phu Quoc international airport are expected to reach one million in 2014, a 45% rise from the previous year.
