Ha Noi sees 17.1% rise in foreign tourists arrivals in nine months

Foreign tourist arrivals to Ha Noi reached nearly 1.5 million in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 17.1%, according to the city Statistics Office.

Of this, foreign arrivals visiting the city for recreation accounted for 80.4% (up 16.4%) while those arriving for business made up 16.3% (up 20.4%).

Specifically, the Republic of Korea (RoK) saw the biggest rise in arrivals to Ha Noi at 47.9%, followed by the UK (42.3%), the US (23.3%), Thailand (20.9%) and France (36.9%).

In September, foreign tourist arrivals coming to the city by air reached nearly 1,200, up 10.6% over a year earlier while those by sea and road were more than 300,000, up 52.4%.

Tourism turnover of hotels and travel agencies this month increased by 0.5% from the previous month and surged 10.2% year on year.
