The Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan have been defined as the primary markets of Ha Noi’s tourism thanks to their high growth in the number of arrivals to the capital.
Recent years have seen a 50 percent growth in Korean and Japanese travellers to the city, earning the reputation of both big spenders and long-stay customers.
Ha Noi is working to capitalise on the Japanese market, which boasts 20 million people travelling abroad each year.
Other tourist markets receiving special attention include France, Greece, India, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Northeast Asia.
According to Mai Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Ha Noi is focusing on developing tourism infrastructure and human resources as well as diversifying products in an effort to better serve visitors.
In 2014, Ha Noi welcomed 3 million tourists, a 16 percent increase from 2013.
