Viet Nam, Ethiopia announce heritage cooperation

Viet Nam and Ethiopia unveiled on March 31 that they have reached an agreement to cooperate in the field of heritage management, said Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh.

The agreement was reached at a meeting on the sidelines of the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) between Anh and Tekleberhan Gebrehiwot Kassa, speaker of the House of Federation of Ethiopia.

The project will aim to strengthen the insight into the challenges and needs for local heritage management and the best ways to invest in it to boost tourism and social integration.

For his part, Kassa expressed his admiration for Viet Nam and late President Ho Chi Minh – the resplendent symbol of the national liberation movement. Viet Nam and Ethiopia share similarities in population and ethnic minority groups and own many cultural heritage recognized by the UNESCO, he revealed.

He said he was deeply impressed by Viet Nam cultural identities, especially cultural diversity of ethnic minority groups and wanted to learn from their experience in developing cultural and tourism villages.
