Strengthening tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia

(TITC) - After the official visit to Indonesia of President Truong Tan Sang in June 2013, the comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia has been elevated to strategic partnership, bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia flourished in many fields.

Economic, trade and investment cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia continues to stably develop. The total two-way trade turnover is expected to reach USD 5.4 billion in 2015. The two countries often coordinate in regional and international forums, especially in the framework of ASEAN and the United Nations.

In the field of tourism, Viet Nam and Indonesia have strengthened cooperation and achieved positive results. In terms of tourist exchange, in 2014, Viet Nam welcomed 68,628 Indonesian tourist arrivals. In the 6 months of 2015, this figure reached 28,628 arrivals. The number of Vietnamese traveling abroad increased rapidly in recent years. In 2013, there were 43,249 Vietnamese tourist arrivals traveling to Indonesia.

In November 2014 and May 2015, Viet Nam welcomed Indonesian famtrip and presstrip delegations including representatives of press agencies, media and leading tour operators to explore tourism products and services in Viet Nam.

To further foster tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia, from August 3-7, 2015, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with Embassy of Viet Nam in Indonesia and Viet nam Airlines will organize roadshows to promote Viet Nam tourism in cities of Surabaya and Jakarta, Indonesia.
