Under the guidance of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition has collaborated with Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), Cultural Heritage Department and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to organize the photo contest with the theme “Vietnam’s world heritage sitesâ€.
The contest aims to publicize, honor, preserve and promote the value of Vietnam’s natural heritage sites as well as tangible and intangible cultural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, including: Halong Bay, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Complex of Hue Monuments, My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An Ancient City, Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi, Vietnamese court music, the space of gong culture in Central Highlands, Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs, ca tru singing, Giong festival in Phu Dong and Soc temples.
All Vietnamese citizens and foreigners are eligible for submitting photos to the contest (11 photos as maximum). The submitted photos must be taken by entrants themselves. Date a photo was taken is not required. The photos which won prizes at any other contests of the same theme held or sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the VAPA and altered photos are not eligible. The submitted photos are color or black/white, printed on photo printing paper (size 30cmx45cm). Each photo must have its fully filled work card (below) and one photo (size 10cmx15cm) attached on the back.

The photos can be submitted directly to the Photography Division of Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition - 38 Cao Ba Quat Street, Hanoi during work time from July 4 to 12, 2011. The deadline for the photos coming by post is July 4, 2011 as it is posted. Envelopes shall state clearly: “Works to the photo contest themed Vietnam’s world heritage sitesâ€.
When the contest ends, organizing board will award 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes. In addition, there can be other prizes sponsored by provinces, cities, organizations or arts support funds. The organizing board will also select excellent 250-300 photos from the contest for photo exhibition which celebrates 66 years of National Day of Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2/9/1945 – 2/9/2011) and 57 years of Hanoi’s liberation day (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2011).
