New cruise routes open from Sanya to Vietnam
Update: Nov 09, 2011
Danang City’s Tien Sa Port on Saturday welcomed 1,000 visitors arriving on the five-star cruise ship SuperStar Aquarius on the opening of the cruise routes from Sanya of China’s Hainan to Danang and Halong.

These visitors, including hundreds of international reporters, were brought to Danang by Malaysia’s leading cruise line Star Cruises.

Michael Goh, sales manager of Star Cruises, said the cruise line was satisfied with local destinations for cruise tourists and would continue the survey to create more routes.

“With these new cruise routes, our passengers can visit the world heritages in the central area and Halong Bay,” said Goh.

The arrival last Saturday kicked off the international cruise tourism program from Sanya to Vietnam from this November to March next year, will all trips being catered to by Saigontourist Travel Services Co.

The travel firm will operate tours to Halong, Danang, Hoi An and Hue for 87 Star Cruises ships carrying some 190,000 passengers and fleet members mostly from China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.

Star Cruises once brought tourists to Halong Bay in 2007 but the cruise route was suspended due to the economic downturn. Saigontourist expected that the new cruise program will extend to the end of next year after this five-month contract.
