(TITC) - Northern Midland and Mountainous Region includes North-west and North-east mountainous areas which create craggy topography with majestic mountains, typically Fansipan Peak at an altitude of 3,143m considered as “roof of Indochina” and many other mountain peaks at the height of about 3,000m above sea level.

◊ NATURAL AND ECOTOURISM

Sa Pa Town located at an altitude of 1,500m (Lao Cai Province) and other places such as Mau Son Plateau (Lang Son), Dong Van Plateau (Ha Giang), Bac Ha Plateau (Lao Cai), Moc Chau Plateau (Son La)... attract numerous domestic and international visitors.

The Northern Midland and Mountainous Region has many advantages for developing ecotourism with dozens of nature reserves, national parks and many beautiful landscapes such as Ba Be Lake (Bac Kan), Nui Coc Lake (Thai Nguyen), Thac Ba Lake (Yen Bai), Da River Lake (Son La), Ban Gioc Waterfall (Cao Bang), Bac Waterfall (Lao Cai)... Besides, palm forests, tea hills, orchards, hills, valleys, terraced fields along the mountain slopes or interesting caves also create a colorful natural picture.

Moreover, the region also preserves many historical relics associated with the cultural tradition and struggle process to protect the country of Vietnamese people, including Mother Au Co Temple, Hung Kings Temple (Phu Tho); Pac Bo Cave (Cao Bang); Tan Trao Banyan Tree, ATK zones (Tuyen Quang); Dien Bien Phu Victory Historical Monuments (Dien Bien)...
 

In particular, ethnic people in the region conserve long-standing culture with various unique traditional festivals of Long Tong, Gau Tao, xuong dong (going to the field)…; specific folk forms of khen dancing, sap dancing, then singing, luon singing… and attractive folk games. All will bring visitors a lot of exciting experiences.
