Da Nang welcomes over one million international tourists in 2015

Approximately 1.25 million foreign visitors came to the central city of Da Nang in 2015, an increase of 30.8% over the same period last year.

This is the first year Da Nang has welcomed more than one million foreign tourists. Accordingly, the total number of visitors to the city in 2015, including both domestic arrivals and foreigners, reached 4.6 million, up 20.5% over 2014.

The local tourism industry’s total revenue hit VND12.7 trillion (nearly US$565 million).

This year, 55 tourist accommodations, with 2,608 rooms, were put into operation around the city, raising the current total number of accommodations to 490 with 18,233 rooms.

As of late 2015, there are 20 direct air routes to Da Nang, including 10 with regular flights and the others with charter flights.

A number of new tourism products have been promoted and appreciated, including the French Village in Ba Na Hills which is one of the most popular destinations in the city, Viet Nam's largest family entertainment centre Helio Centre, Asia Park, and the 'Da Nang – Summer Rendezvous' programme.

Notably, the annual Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) has become the highlight of the city’s tourism calendar, attracting a large number of visitors during the Liberation Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) public holidays.

In the next year, Da Nang’s tourism sector is striving to welcome 5.14 million tourists, including over 1.3 million foreigners, and record a VND14.920 trillion (nearly US$664 million) turnover.
