Quang Ninh: Ngoa Van spring festival 2016 opens on 16th Feb

(TITC) -  On Jan. 16th 2016, Quang Ninh Department of Information and Communications in coordination with the Dong Trieu Town People's Committee and the Executive Board of Quang Ninh’s Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha held a press conference to announce the activities of Ngoa Van spring festival 2016 and the inauguration of Ngoa Van Pagoda.

The festival aims to honor the Buddha-Emperor Tran Nhan Tong as well as to raise people’s awareness on the value of the special national relic of Tran Dynasty in Dong Trieu Town.

Accordingly, the festival will officially open on Feb. 16, 2016 (9th day of 1st lunar month, 2016) and last for three months with many interesting activities such as sounding drum; opening ceremony; praying ceremony for peace and prosperity for the country; traditional folk game; and art performances…

Ngoa Van Pagoda is located on Bao Dai Mountain (Tay Son Hamlet, Binh Khe Commune, Dong Trieu Town) which was built during Tran Dynasty. It was recognized as the special national relic of Tran Dynasty in Dong Trieu Town. The Pagoda is the place the Buddha-Emperor Tran Nhan Tong founded Truc Lam Zen Monastery and attained Nirvana.

In this occasion, the Tam Duc Company will inaugurate a 2-kilometre cable car system to better serve tourists to contemplate Ngoa Van Pagoda. Tickets for the cable car are free on the first day of the Ngoa Van spring festival.

From 2016, Ngoa Van spring festival will be held annually on 9th day of 1st lunar month.
