Clay Fire-cracker Festival returns to Hai Duong
Update: Feb 25, 2016
The sixth Clay Fire-cracker Festival of northern Hai Duong province opened at Da Pagoda in the national special relics complex Con Son - Kiep Bac on February 23.

Clay fire-cracker is a traditional folk game in northern Viet Nam that involves hurling clay crackers to create noise.

It is performed to pray for good harvests and no natural disasters. It is believed that the louder the cracker noise is, the more bountiful crops will be in the year to come.

The festival saw the participation of eight teams from seven communes - An Duc, Ninh Hoa, Tan Huong and Quyet Thang of Ninh Giang district; Minh Duc and Quang Khai of Tu Ky district; and Duc Xuong of Gia Loc district. They are all well-known for clay fire-cracker contests.

The event is part of the ongoing Con Son-Kiep Bac 2016 Spring Festival in the province, which runs until March 1.
