(TITC) – On 9 May 2017, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ngo Hoai Chung had a meeting with Indonesian tourism delegation led by Mr. Judi Rifajantoro, senior Advisor of Indonesian Ministry of Tourism.
According to Vice Chairman Ngo Hoai Chung, the tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and Indonesia has flourished since the two countries signed a bilateral tourism cooperation agreement on April 27, 1994. In 2014, VNAT also has implemented research on Indonesian market as a guideline for fostering tourism promotion activities in this country.
Indonesia has been considered as a potential market of Viet Nam tourism. Recently, VNAT has coordinated with related partners to host famtrip and presstrip for media agencies and tourism companies from Indonesia to survey tourism products and services in Viet Nam; organize roadshow in Jakata and other main cities in order to introduce Viet Nam tourism.
Vice Chairman Ngo Hoai Chung hoped that the two countries would sign Viet Nam - Indonesia tourism cooperation agreement period 2018-2020; launch more direct flights between two countries; enhance the exchange of experiences in development of islands and sea tourism, human resources development; boost tourism promotion cooperation.
Mr. Judi Rifajantoro stressed that Indonesian government always give priority to tourism sector. Until now, Indonesia has waved visa for 160 countries. The country aims to draw 15 millions international tourist arrivals in 2017. To achieve this goal, Indonesia has launched “10 new Bali destinations” campaign, strengthed the aviation connection; invested in budget homestay; pushed up promotion activities on the digital platform.
In 2016, Indonesia attracted 60,000 thousand Vietnamese tourist arrivals. In coming time, Ministry of Tourism, Indonesia will host some presstrips and famtrips for Viet Nam’s enterprise and media agencies, organize roadshows in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, open more direct flights to Viet Nam… He hoped that the cooperation between two countries will keep growing, especially in the field of tourism.
On the visit to Viet Nam, the Indonesian delegation has visited Sapa, Lao Cai and experienced the Fansipan’s modern cable car system. They highly valued the landscape, infrastructure, unique local cuisine and ethnic culture of SaPa tourism.
