Vietnam Airlines increases flights during Tet 2018

The Viet Nam National Flag Carrier Vietnam Airlines on December 14th announced it plans on adding flights over the upcoming 2018 Tet holiday.

Some 1,100 flights (about 220,000 seats) will be operated between January 31st and March 2nd, 2018 (December 15th to January 15th of the lunar calendar) to meet the increasing passenger demand during the peak period, thus bringing the total seats up to 1.5 million, a 9% increase compared to the normal schedule, and an increase of 14% compared with the same period last year.

Accordingly, on peak days (February 9th-14th, 20th-26th), Vietnam Airlines adds between 115-160 flights on domestic routes (Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh city/Vinh/Can Tho/Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh city-Da Nang/Hai Phong/Thanh Hoa/Vinh/Dong Hoi/Hue/Pleiku/Quy Nhon/Buon Ma Thuot/Nha Trang/Phu Quoc) at the night time (after 24h00 to 05h55), triple the normal load.

In which, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh city route sees 237 flights, mostly using Boeing 787, Airbus A350, A330 aircraft; Ho Chi Minh city-Da Nang route enjoys 212 flights (using Airbus A321 aircraft); and Ho Chi Minh city-Hue route adds 104 flights (using Airbus A321 aircraft).

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport around three hours ahead and to use kiosk check-in service, before their departures in case of overloading.

The Carrier has also already prepared its aircrafts, pilots, flight attendants, technical staffs and ground services, as well as developing a flexible operational plan.
