Thua Thien - Hue greets over 1 million tourists in first quarter

The number of tourists to the central coastal province of Thua Thien - Hue reached an estimated 1.1 million in the first three months of 2018, a 39.5% rise over a year earlier, including more than 534,000 foreigners, up 70.3%, reported the provincial Department of Tourism.  

From the start of the year, other indicators of the province’s tourism sector also increased, like domestic tourist arrivals up 19.2% and total turnover up 38.66%. With positive signals and preparations for the 2018 Hue Festival, the locality promises to achieve good results and fulfill the set target for the year.

In 2018, Thua Thien - Hue strives to welcome about 4-4.2 million tourist arrivals, a 10-12% increase against last year, in which foreign tourists occupied about 40-45% and those staying overnight reached about 2.1-2.2 million, up about 17-19%. Tourism turnover is expected to rise 15-16% at about VND4-4.2 trillion.

Aiming to attract tourists, the province is organizing many activities such as art lighting performance and cannon firing demonstration at Ky Dai which are anticipated by local people and tourists alike.

Specifically, the 2018 Hue Festival will be held from April 27th to May 2nd with many special programs to attract more tourists to the ancient capital.
