When it comes to Ha Noi’s pottery, Bat Trang ceramics are the first thing that cross one’s mind. However, there is another well-known pottery village named Kim Lan in Ha Noi, located in the district of Gia Lam.

According to the locals, Kim Lan Village was established in the ninth century. Since then, the art of pottery making has been developed and maintained through generations. Notably, the village was also a place where ceramic products for the ancient Citadel of Thang Long were made. Then Kim Lan ceramics-pottery fell into oblivion.
About 20 years ago, the pottery production in the village was revived and its products are now available nationwide in various styles and at reasonable prices. The products are special as they are made with sophisticated patterns and designs to meet the satisfaction of customers instead of mass-production. Several common products of the village are pots, jars, vases, cups and more.
