(TITC) – The 2nd Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival was held in Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam Province from August 1 – 3, 2018 aiming to promote the brand of Ngoc Linh ginseng, a rare and precious medicinal herb of Viet Nam.
The festival was also an opportunity for mountainous ethnic people in Quang Nam Province to exchange experience on preservation of cultural value which would help boost economic development and attract investment into the province.
At the opening ceremony, Ngoc Linh ginseng was officially recognized as a national product and the Geographical Indication (GI) of "Ngọc Linh" for ginseng root products by Ministry of Science and Technology.
In the framework of the festival, a series of activities took place such as photo exhibition on Ngoc Linh ginseng, medical herb, local culture; trade fair of Ngoc Linh ginseng and agricultural products in the mountainous province of Quang Nam; Ngoc Linh ginseng contest; procession of Ngoc Linh ginseng symbol; folk game; art performances, etc.
The event attracted thousands of local people and visitors.

Ngoc Linh ginseng is a medicinal herb found on Ngoc Linh Mountain located between Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces which is considered one of the five most valuable medicinal species in the world and produces high profits.
Currently, Quang Nam Province has zoned off over 15,000 hectares to grow ginseng with the participation of about 1,000 households.
