Wisps of white cloud looping around the mountain peaks turn on the natural and mysterious charm of Sapa.
Sapa, 380km from the capital of Hanoi, is shrouded in masses of cloud all year round, but even more so in early spring. Sometimes it appears like an island in the clouds covering the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and forests.
When the clouds skim the bottom of O Quy Ho Valley, the trekkers who are exploring the peaks feel like they are in paradise, and as the winds get stronger, the layers of cloud spread out like pieces of white silk hung in the air. In particular, on nights when the moon is full, the moonlight reflecting off patches of cloud around the mountains creates a beautiful halo.
The shape and color of the clouds change every month and season. Many of the residents in Sapa use the clouds as their weather forecast.
Visitors to Sapa can enjoy the allure of the clouds at any time of the year. If one takes photos of the natural landscape without clouds, they are just seeing half of Sapa’s beauty.
