National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced that service units have finalised the preparations of resources with relevant units in order to provide the best service possible to customers throughout the hectic period around the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
It is anticipated that peak times will be between January 9 and February 8, with the average number of flights increasing by 12 per cent in comparison with last year.
The total number of seats which will be on offer during this period is estimated to be 1.4 million, an annual rise of 11.2 per cent and up 10.8 per cent compared to the regular flight schedule.
The main air routes which will undergo an increase in travel demand include between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, in addition to a number of local routes such as Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh along with Hanoi and Phu Quoc.
Before the start of Tet, it is anticipated that the peak day will fall on January 22 when Vietnam Airlines will serve 545 flights per day. Whilst after Tet it is expected that up to 571 flights will run on January 29.
In order to ease congestion during peak hours, the airline has instructed passengers to use web and mobile devices, as well as the kiosk check-in.
Moreover, the airline has also given close attention to the necessary maintenance work given to the equipment and facilities on the ground ahead of them coming into operation.
