The opening ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue as well as member of Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi City People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh.
The documents, photos and objects on display at the exhibition chronicled various periods of time throughout Hanoi’s history, from 1010 when King Ly Thai To relocated the capital from Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh Province) to Thang Long (now Hanoi) to Hanoi’s resilient struggles against the French and American invaders as well as the city’s current reform and development process.
The exhibits also highlighted the time-honoured tradition of the capital city as well as its remarkable achievements in promoting its image as a creative city and a safe and friendly destination.
The event will be open to the public until 9 pm, October 15.
Also, this morning, the sixth Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival kicked off at the King Ly Thai To Flower Garden, attracting 13 troupes from different districts throughout the capital such as Hoang Mai, Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Dong Anh, and Dan Phuong.
The participating troupes brightened the atmosphere around Hoan Kiem lake with their skilful and colourful performances.
Hosted by the Hanoi City Department of Culture and Sports, the event aimed to introduce the public to the art of dragon dancing – a unique traditional cultural practice of Hanoi.
