This technique is derived from the French pique assiette (plate thief), first introduced by Raymond Edouard Isadore. He covered his entire house with bits of pottery found around his neighborhood to express the idea of recycling and the significance of the found object.

 

While decorative Premium Deluxe Room walls introduce rainforest foliage to a more contemporary space, Deluxe Room walls are covered with broken ceramics in the shape of vases inspired by the royal brown patterned ceramics ‘gom hoa nau’, dating back as far as the 13th century to the great Tran Dynasty. The bulbous body of the crockery is highly influenced by the heroic culture of the time, imparting a more majestic and warrior-like appearance to the dynastic ceramics.

The panels of this Latin mural painting are called frescos ("fresh" from Italian) - the process of painting on freshly laid plaster with color pigments dissolved in water. Considered to be a unique Pompeiian art form, this fresco shows a series of consecutive events inspired by Villa of the Mysteries, famous for having one of the most important decorative fresco collections in the Roman world. This megalographia (a depiction of life-size figures) creates an illusion of the room extending further beyond the walls, masterly done by artists from Gallery Cau Vong.
