In the context of complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the border city of Mong Cai has currently implemented drastic and effective measures on Covid-19 prevention and control, especially in field of tourism.

Currently, over 160 accommodation establishments and rougly 740 restaurants have been in operation in the city. According to a report by the People's Committee of Mong Cai city, the number of tourist arrivals reached more than 55,400 in the first six months of this year, equaling 31% of the figure in the same period last year.
All hotels and guesthouses have signed commitments on carrying out sufficient measures against the serious pandamic. Specifically, they have undergone regular Covid-19 testing, prepared adequate equipment for Covid-19 prevention such as body temperature monitors, face masks, hand sanitizer, medical declaration via QR Code and arranged rooms or areas for temporary medical isolation. These establishments would be closed and fined if found to ignore preventive measures.
“The city has taken measures to ensure safety for tourists in the face of the complex developments of COVID-19. Locals and tourists have been timelily informed of the latest situations of the pandemic and relevant regulations issued by the locality and medical agencies. Proactive methods such as testing and residence controlling are adequately carried out to prevent the risk of Covid-19 transmission.”, said Ms. Pham Thi Oanh, Head of Culture and Information Department of Mong Cai city.
Mong Cai has undertaken Covid-19 tests for nearly 400 employees working at tourism businesses and all these samples reveal negative results.
The locality also plans to implement 12 events and activities to stimulate tourism demand in accordance with the specific circumstances of the COVID-19 epidemic in the second half of this year.
