A first charter flight is set to arrive at Van Don International Airport in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh on July 1, bringing luxury travelers from the Republic of Korea (RoK) to the locality.
All of the 188 passengers onboard the flight are Korean tourists and people operating travel agencies in the RoK.
The Korean guests are due to stay in a number of luxury hotels, visit UNESCO-recognised Ha Long Bay, play golf, and enjoy other entertainment services during their trip.
Quang Ninh plans to receive a similar charter flight from the RoK in July.
Pham Thi Sen, director of Good Feeling Vietnam company, which organises these tours, said Ha Long Bay can be viewed as a highly favourite destination for Korean tourists. She said the new product is expected to help the local tourism industry recover after a long period of disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company will bring Korean tourists to Van Don International Airport frequently through charter flights during the third and fourth quarters of the year, as the second quarter is the peak time for domestic arrivals, said Sen.
This summer Ha Long Bay is anticipated to receive over 10,000 arrivals per day on normal days, and more than 20,000 arrivals per day over the weekend.
