(TITC) - Phu Quoc (Kien Giang Province) will welcome more international flights in the coming months, bringing positive signs for the tourism industry in Pearl Island.

Two other Korean airlines, Jeju Air and Jin Air, also plan to operate flights to Phu Quoc Island. Jeju Air will operate the Seoul - Phu Quoc route with a frequency of 7 flights/week from the end of October. Jin Air plans to operate Phu Quoc flights departing from Incheon airport at the end of December.
According to news agents in Korea, the reason airlines have recently become interested in opening flights to Phu Quoc is due to increased demand for tourism to Vietnam. According to statistics in Korea, the number of passengers on flights between Vietnam and Korea in the third quarter of 2023 was more than double compared to the same period last year.
A representative of a Korean airline commented that the demand for flights from Korea to Vietnam last year was not high because it was the time to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in the third quarter of 2023, this route is increasingly crowded, helping the seat utilisation rate (load factor) on this route reach an average of 80%. In addition, because there have been many flights from Korea to Nha Trang and Da Nang, some airlines have shifted to Phu Quoc to develop new destinations.
In addition, in the near future, Phu Quoc plans to welcome charter flights from 2 cities of Kazakhstan from October 2023. Charter flights from Taiwan (China) to Phu Quoc are expected to operate from December 2023.
