Dai Ninh Pass is not the highest area in the Phan Son and Phan Lam forests, but this is the peak of the National Highway 28B connecting the two provinces of Binh Thuan and Lam Dong. The starting point is Luong Son Town, Bac Binh district, and the final point is adjacent to Highway 20 in Ninh Gia commune, Duc Trong district (Lam Dong), with a length of nearly 70 km.
Dai Ninh Pass (Bac Binh)
This route was started in mid-2003. After 5 years of construction, the route was completed and operated to serve the Dai Ninh hydroelectric plant construction. In March 2014, Luong Son - Dai Ninh Road was converted into National Highway 28B. This route has many steep passes and curved turns, of which Dai Ninh Pass is 12 kilometers long, with many winding, wavy, steep, and dangerous slopes and sections. This is also the most beautiful hidden pass in the Phan Son mountainous areas. At the end of 2023, the Ministry of Transport approved investment in a renovation and upgrading project that intends to complete the transportation system of the two provinces and strengthen regional connectivity to meet transport needs on the east-west corridor connecting the Central Highlands region with the Central provinces. The project has 68 km in length, including 51 km through Binh Thuan province, 17 km through Lam Dong province, a road base width of 12 m, and a road surface width of 7 m with a total project investment of 1,435 billion VND from the government budget. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025 and 2026.
Dangerous turns
Since the establishment of National Highway 28B, tourists from Lam Dong and Binh Thuan have traveled on Dai Ninh Pass. Although the road surface is not flat and wide yet, the scenery of Dai Ninh Pass still looks like a watercolor painting. Especially in the cold season, when going to the top of Dai Ninh Pass, travelers feel like they are walking on clouds. It is an ideal stop for travelers to admire the beautiful scenery, majestic mountains, and forests.
The tourists stop at the top of Dai Ninh Pass
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, a tourist from Da Lat to Phan Thiet shared: "I have been here many times, but now I have the chance to stop at the top of the pass, immerse in the astonishing and majestic natural beauty of the mountains and forests. In the distance, deep green, undulating old forests are hidden in white clouds floating like cotton. On both sides of the pass, colorful wildflower petals are blooming, occasionally interspersed with white flowers from coffee gardens. The landscape of Dai Ninh pass is like a picture that is hard to describe just in words...".
