My Son Sanctuary - World Cultural Heritage (Quang Nam Province)
January 2021 marks the first time that Vietnam's unique natural landscapes, tangible and intangible heritage properties are honoured on the Google Arts & Culture digital platform through the project "Google Arts & Culture: Wonders of Vietnam". The project was launched by Google in collaboration with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (now the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism - VNAT) and a number of localities.
At the Launching Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism said, Google Arts & Culture can be seen as a window to cultures, helping viewers approach art and culture in a new and interesting way. The project “Google Arts & Culture - Wonders of Vietnam” will help Vietnamese destinations continue to shine and be welcomed by the international community on Google's network.
Mr. Daniel J. Kritenbrink - former US Ambassador to Vietnam shared, this is a great initiative that helps inspire international tourists about Vietnam with beautiful natural scenery, cultural and historical values and friendly, hospitable people. He also expressed his admiration for the outstanding heritage sites of Central Vietnam such as Son Doong Cave, Hoi An Ancient Town, Hue Imperial City, beautiful beaches in Da Nang and many special culinary dishes.
Google Arts & Culture: An artistic window to Vietnamese culture
To the flow of the story of Vietnam's endless beauty, the Google Arts and Culture project - Wonders of Vietnam makes viewers overwhelmed by the world's largest cave - Son Doong Cave with magical lighting effects and listening to the sound of the wind blowing through the cave. Or you can also choose an impressive view from above of the long beaches, pristine islands, or roads, urban areas, architectural works... which will bring a new, unique feeling about things that seem familiar.
The project's first launch has created a buzz at home and abroad, actively contributing to promoting the image of culture, history, tourism, country and people of Vietnam to international friends.
In June 2022, Tourism Information Technology Center (under VNAT) coordinated with Google to organise the Introduction of Google Arts & Culture digital platform to local tourism management departments, tourism promotion information centres, relics, heritage sites, museums, tourist attractions, etc.
Lately, virtual exhibitions such as Trang An Landscape Complex - one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam, or the exhibition called “The Precious Heritage Museum and Art Gallery” by Photographer Réhahn Croquevielle in the journey to discover the beauty of the country and Vietnamese people, Vietnam continues to be present on the "Virtual Museum" Google Arts & Culture.
Trang An Landscape Complex on Google Arts & Culture
Most recently, on 4th September 2024, Google Arts & Culture officially unveils its landing page: “Vibrant Vietnam”, honouring a vibrant, attractive and colourful Vietnam, with a mosaic of rich culture, people and biodiversity. This is also the latest efforts of Google with the goal of honouring and promoting the awe-inspiring natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, featuring its diverse communities, all accessible to a global audience.
Highly appreciate the initiatives of Google in supporting the promotion of Vietnam’s charms to the world via digital platforms, Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Director of Tourism Information Technology Center said, these initiatives are in line with the strategy of Vietnam's tourism industry, which is to accelerate the technology application in tourism marketing and foster the introduction of Vietnam’s tourism on digital platforms. Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa hopes to continue to receive the support and the cooperation from Google to implement creative initiatives to bring Vietnam’s tourism closer to international tourists around the world in the coming time.

Making its first appearance in 2011, Google Arts & Culture is a virtual platform of high-resolution images and videos of artworks and cultural artefacts from partner cultural organisations throughout the world. The outstanding features of Google Arts & Culture is it utilises high-resolution image technology such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) that enable the viewers to experience arts and culture in a unique and interesting way.
Playing an important role in preserving and bringing cultural and artistic works closer to the public, the Google Arts & Culture platform is considered a prestigious "virtual museum" in the world when cooperating with over 2,000 museums spread across 80 countries with more than 100,000 works of art (including architectural works, sculptures, paintings...).
