Let’s fly over Ha Long Bay with parachute-pulled canoe
Update: Jul 06, 2009
A high-speed canoe speeds up, pulling along a parachute flying above the Bai Chay coast and Ha Long Bay. That’s the beginning of a parachute-pulled canoe adventure into the World Heritage Site from the sky.

The tour leads you to different states of feeling for less than 10 minutes. Some may have fears at the first minutes when they are not sure whether the canoe runs at the speed fast enough for the parachute to take off. However, this is the exciting moment for the calm adventurers to enjoy flying up to the sky together with the parachute.

Never mind whether in case of fear or excitement and a parachute-pulled canoe tour is quite safe as the driver knows how fast he should run the canoe to bring the parachute with one or two guests up to the sky and then maintain it at the height enough for the guests to view the UNESCO-listed bay.

Guests are taught basic skills for their safe participation in the tour and provided with necessary equipment and items including a life jacket in case any unfavorable incident occurs during the tour. Experts are also ready in high-speed boats along the coast to give their guests any assistance.

So put away your worries and just relax yourself with original landscape. What you can see during such a tour are the super view of thousands of islands and islets emerging from the turquoise waters as well as various tourist boats in different shapes, sizes and colors cruising the bay or docking at the tourist boat ferry on Bay Chay Beach.

You may feel their hair stand on end as the parachute goes down near the water surface when the canoe slows its speeds to turn around before accelerating the speed to bring the parachute high again. I heard some of the guests shouting out both their fears and excitement at this moment.

Part of the landscape that guests can see during the final leg of the parachute-pulled canoe tour is the suspension bridge Bai Chay, which spans over Quang Ninh’s old town Hon Gai and the new township Bai Chay where many luxury hotels have been open or under construction to back the development of tourism in the northern province.

Such a parachute-pulled tour is organized by High-Speed Boat Club in the Royal Park on Bai Chay Beach, and costs VND300,000 for one guest and VND400,000 for two, who fly together with the parachute.

The tour is available during the daytime, but the best time is in the late afternoon when the last sun lights of the day shine over the islands and islets in the bay and surroundings, making them a more picturesque landscape.

More breezes in the afternoon also help make a good start of the parachute and blow it to a higher level where guests have better position to have a bird’s eye view of Ha Long Bay, Bay Chay Beach and surroundings. So, never let fears take over you and open your eyes wide to take this memorable landscape and moments.
