The central province of Quang Nam has agreed to a large project by HCMC-based Hung Cuong Trade Join Stock Company to develop a tourism town in Phu Ninh Lake, around 7km west of Tam Ky Town, an official said.
Dinh Hai, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the provincial government okayed the project’s pre-feasibility plan by the company, under which the company would spend US$200 million on the project. The two sides have reached a common voice for the project’s location.
“The project will locate on over 670ha around the lake, which will be turned into a tourism zone,†he said.
The investor will develop various facilities there such as healthcare services, a wharf, an area to preserve wild animals, culture and art villages, and other related facilities.
Phu Ninh Lake covers 3,432ha with 30 islets and 23,000ha of protective forest. As it is considered a big irrigational work for the central region, most of the area will be protected, meaning the forest will remain intact.
The provincial government has made a plan to develop the lake into an eco-tourism complex. French experts have helped the province in making the plan.
