Exploring mysteries of the Central Highlands

The Central Highlands is blessed with magnificent waterfalls, scenic lakes, dense forests, sizable mountains, traditional rong houses in Gia Lai Province, traditional dai houses in Dak Lak Province and ethnic festivals of groups such as Ede, Gia Rai, M’nong, Xe Dang and Ba Na. BenThanh Tourist is offering tours to the region that emphasize the terrain.
 A four-day/three-night tour to Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku and Kon Tum cities leaves from HCMC on National Road 14. From the road, tourists can glimpse historic sites such as Dong Xoai, Soc Bom Bo, Bu Dang and Ho Chi Minh Trail. The first stop is at noon at Dray Nur Waterfall, the most magnificent fall of Serepok River, and Gia Long Waterfall, a national historical site. The rest of the day is for Buon Ma Thuot City, the first overnight stop.
On the second day, the tour moves through Pleiku City to Kon Tum City for tourists to visit a 150-year-old wooden church and the Yaly hydropower plant. The third day is a return to Buon Ma Thuot City with stops at Bien Ho, or To Nung Lake, the vestige of a crater millions of years old, and at Buon Don, which is home to native elephants.
Here tourists can experience the exciting feelings of conquering a bamboo bridge, take a panoramic view of the imposing Serepok River, listen to tales of past elephant hunts or stroll the Ban Don Eco-Tourism Area.
Tourists can take a bicycle around Yok Don National Park, one of the most biologically diverse forests in the country and dominated by a mosaic of fauna and flora, or boat on the poetic Dak Mil Lake.
The last day is for shopping for indigenous specialties at Buon Ma Thuot Market and the return to HCMC.
The three-day/two-night to Buon Ma Thuot City and the Buon Don Tourist Site in Dak Lak Province and the three-day/two-night to Pleiku and Kon Tum cities and the Mang Den Eco-Tourist Site in Kon Tum Province also reveal the beauty of the Central Highlands.
Considered the country’s second misty city after Dalat, Mang Den, in the center of Kon Tum’s Kon Plong District, is famous for its primitive landscapes. The area boasts 136,000ha of primeval forest and a 4,000ha-century-old pine forest and is abundant with splendid springs, waterfalls and lakes. Tourists will be taken to Dakke Waterfall and to Mini Safari Botanic Garden to admire the wildlife and the magnificence of Toon Dam Lake and Konlong hydropower plant.
Tourists should not miss the gong performances or ruou can (wine drunk through bamboo pipes) to sense the soul of the land and get an insight into the culture.
