Over 40 wood-block paintings printed on poonah-paper, featuring normal daily life of Vietnamese people are on show in Paris, France. The black and white paintings, made by Vietnamese painter Hoang Minh Phuc are the first of its kind to be displayed in France.
The event was an opportunity for French people and overseas Vietnamese in the country to get familiar to the traditional printing method which is falling into oblivion.
The exhibition opened on December 4 and is expected to last till January 4, 2010. After France, the collection of wood-block paintings will be showcased in Germany.
Hoang Minh Phuc, a lecturer from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, is one of a few artists in Vietnam who pursue the art type. She was awarded “Golden Hands†prize for young painters in 2001.
