Japanese T’rung Association makes its debut

The Japanese T’rung Association has been established to advertise Vietnam’s unique culture and arts to the land of the rising sun.

Speaking at a ceremony on May 16, Vietnamese Ambassador in Japan Nguyen Phu Binh showed his delight at the establishment of the association and said he hopes it will help to promote cultural exchanges between both countries.

The association is keen to promote Vietnamese culture including traditional art in Japan.

The association’s vice chairwoman, Musician Kumiko Okuri, expressed her thanks to the Vietnamese teachers who had taught her how to play the T’rung and to the Vietnamese Embassy for setting up the association.

She also reported on the assocation’s upcoming performances, one of which is a concert to celebrate the Thang Long - Hanoi millennial anniversary.

At the ceremony, musicians from the bands Tre Viet and Trio bands and Kumiko Okuri performed together, receiving warm reception from the audience.
