Hung Kings Festival hectic with activities
Update: Apr 09, 2011
A book titled, “Hung Kings-National Ancestors” was offered to Hung Kings at the Hung Kings Temple Relics Site in the northern midland province of Phu Tho on April 11 as a commemoration of the legendary national founders on the anniversary of their death.

The book, published by the Hung Kings Temple Repair Fund, the Viet intelligence culture project and the Vietnam Writers’ Association Publishing House, aims to popularise and heighten patriotism, solidarity and national pride as well as gratitude to the nation’s ancestors in the present cause of national construction and defence.

Within the framework of the festival, a rowboat race took place on April 11 at Bach Hac River in Viet Tri city.

Legend has it that the two Trung sisters (40AD) and Tran Nhat Duat under the Tran dynasty (1225-1400), chosed Bach Hac plain to build ships and train soldiers, before driving invaders out of the country.
