More than 400 artisans from the J’rai and Bahnar ethnic minorities gathered at a gong festival in Kbang district in the central highland province of Gia Lai on June 13-14.
At the festival, the artisans played traditional musical instruments and displayed their ancient and valuable gongs.
K’Bang district is one of the localities which have preserved the highest number of gongs. It has nearly 1,000 sets of gongs including 17 which are antiques.
The festival provided an opportunity for artisans from many localities within the province to share experience, strengthen solidarity and contribute to preserving gong culture in the Central Highlands – an intangible cultural heritage of humankind.
