For those who love ancient architecture, a visit to Viet ancient village resort in Ninh Binh Province, about 200 kilometers from Hanoi, is a must.
The resort gathers construction works and decorations dated hundreds of years old and it belongs to the Tam Coc-Bich Dong tourist spot and can be seen when tourists go on a boat down the Ngo Dong River. It has about 14 ancient houses built in different architectural styles and some back onto the beautiful limestone mountain in the Three Cave complex.
After registering, a guide will take tourists sightseeing around the place. The center of the resort is a reconstruction, modeled on the backyard of an ancient kingdom with the king having talks with his subordinate.
In addition to the function of a museum of ancient houses, the resort also serves hotel services. The owner has rebuilt the rooms in the ancient houses and they are now equipped with air conditioning, hot water and cable television. The resort is an ideal location as it is so close to splendid tourist attractions like Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Thai Vi temple and many others. Tourists won't need to spend time looking for food as there are a dozen western and local restaurants nearby.
Each night at the resort costs about VND700,000 (US$35) which is an acceptable price for the experience.
