Since early this year, southern Kien Giang province has received more than 2.3 million visitors, nearly 9 percent higher than the same period last year.
The provincial tourism sector said more than 61,800 international tourists visited Phu Quoc Island in the first six months of the year, up 23 percent. However, the duration of their time spent in the province is relatively short.
Occupancy rates at hotels in key tourism destinations such as Ha Tien town and Rach Gia City are also very low at present. As a result, many hoteliers have had to lower their prices or operate fiscally responsible as they wait for the next tourism season and local annual events.
