(TITC) - Bac Me District (Ha Giang Province), an old land with age-old cultural tradition is famous for excellent culture festivals expressed through customs, production and living of the people. Besides, the nature gifted for Bac Me unique and attractive landscape sites.
To promote strengths and exploit available potentials, Bac Me District has been actively building socio-economic, culture development strategy, of which especially appreciating establishment of community-based tourism culture villages. Lan Village is one of villages in Bac Me District mobilizing effectively available potentials to develop tourism.
Located about 5km to the north east of Bac Me District capital and 50km from Ha Giang City, Lan Village has been recognized as community-based tourism culture village since 25 December 2007. Lan Village is one of 12 villages of Yen Phu Commune with the area of more than 128ha, mainly of which is forests.
To Lan Village, tourist will see a specific culture village with combination of tradition and modernity. Currently, total population of the village is 40 households with 214 people, all of them are Tay ethnic people. Traditional values, ethnic identity here has been kept rather intactly expressed through costumes, jewelry, food and traditional festivals as Long Tong festival, duo of love song and dance, traditional games (du quay, danh sang...)
Tay people concentrate into villages at foot of low mountains. Their typical house is built on high stilts and house's roof, wall, stilts, stairs are made of wood. Altar of ancestor worship is in the center of house, and family's activities take place around.
Tay people in Lan Village process dishes harmoniously and uniquely from fresh materials and decorate them according to yin - yang principle. This makes delicious and strange taste for eaters. There are plenty of traditional dishes as thit lon treo gac bep (a kind of pork), thit mam, sticky rice, grilled fishes and especially corn wine.
Besides, the villagers also preserver a lot of specific culture features as then song, coi song, duo of love song... Especially, the tinh (a traditional stringed musical instrument resembling a guitar) is a traditional instrument of Tay people, an indispensable thing in performances of then song.
With these tourism strengths and potentials, it is expected that Lan Village would attract more and more tourist and become an attractive community-based tourism site of Ha Giang in particular and Viet Nam in general.
