19th-century stele discovered in Hue
Update: Nov 02, 2012
An old stele dating back to the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945) was recently uncovered near a hot spring in the Duong Hoa Commune, Huong Thuy Town, central Thua Thien Hue Province.

The 1.5m high and 1m wide stele is carved with a poem written by King Thieu Tri (third emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty), praising the beauty of the hot spring in the commune. It was located close to a former royal stop-over site where the king took a rest. This area was rated by the king as among the 20 most beautiful sites in Hue.

Phan Thanh Hai, Director of Hue Relics Preservation Centre, said the stele will be preserved and displayed at the Hue Relics Museum.
