Update: Mar 19, 2013
A festival to celebrate the 1973rd anniversary of Trung sisters' uprising (40 AD) against northern invaders was held at their temple, Dong Nhan ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi on March 17 (the sixth day of the second lunar month).

The event was started with a stage performance on the uprising and an offering of incense to commemorate the two famous sisters, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi.

Cultural and sport activities such as martial arts performances, calligraphy and folk songs were also organised during the festival.

The sisters led a revolt against northern dominators and regained independence for the country and Trung Trac established herself as the ruler of an independent state, becoming the first female leader in the nation's history.
