Khanh Hoa approves Russian teaching project for tourism staff
Update: Mar 29, 2013
The south central Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee has approved a project to teach Russian to tourism staff in the 2013-2015 period.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will provide more than VND6.3 billion to help the province implement the project since the second quarter of this year.

Under the project, up to 40 percent of civil servants will be provided with basic language skills so that 30 percent of them can communicate in Russian.

In addition, 70 percent of managers and 50 percent of staff members of tourism and travel companies can also speak Russian.

Since late 2010, the number of Russian tourists to the province has increased remarkably.

Last year, Khanh Hoa received more than 530,000 international tourists including 83,000 Russian.

Currently, Cam Ranh International Airport welcomes three flights a day from Russia's Far Eastern region.

The number of Russian visitors is expected to pick up in the near future as Vietnam Airlines will open a new air route from Moscow to Nha Trang via Cam Ranh International Airport as of April this year.
