The event aims to promote friendship and cooperation between Quang Ninh province and Japanese localities, agencies and associations, hence attracting Japanese investment in Quang Ninh province.

Ha Long city made plans and conducted preparations, especially cherry sources for exhibition at the festival.

Diverse activities such as traditional cloth shows, art performances, tea ceremony performances and traditional food displays will be held during the event.

In addition, a photo exhibition about Japanese culture, cherries, Vietnamese tea culture and special products and foods in Quang Ninh province will be held.

The first cherry blossom festival took place in Ha Long city in April last year. As many as 100 branches of Hikan cherry blossom from Nago city of Japan's Okinawa province were exhibited. Japan gave 100 cherry blossom trees to Ha Long city to plant in the city after the event.
