(TITC) - In the framework of ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2014, ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2014 ceremony was held on January 19, 2014 at Pullman Hotel in Malaysia.
10 hotels in Viet Nam which received this prestigious ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2014 include Chain Caravelle Hotel (Ho Chi Minh City), InterContinental Hanoi Westlake (Hanoi), Rex Hotel (HCMC), First Hotel (HCMC), Majestic Hotel (HCMC), Sheraton Hotel (Hanoi), Six Senses Resort Ninh Van Bay (Khanh Hoa), Mui Ne Bay Resort (Binh Thuan), Grand Palace Hotel (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Pilgrimage Village (Thua Thien Hue).
For this year award, a total of 86 hotels in ASEAN were awarded a plaque and certificate of ASEAN Green Hotel Award with two year validity.
The ASEAN Green Hotel Award aims to honour hotels which are environmentally friendly and protect environment and have been awarded Green Lotus Label by Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism. Winners had to prove environmental protection through documentation, images, reports of relevant agencies in accordance with 11 criteria: environmental-friendly policy and activities; utilization of green products; cooperation with local government and community; human resources development; solid waste management; energy efficiency; water efficiency; air quality management (indoor and outdoor); noise pollution control; waste water treatment and management; toxic and chemical substance disposal management.
The first ASEAN Green Hotel Awards was held in Thailand in 2008 followed by Brunei Darussalam in 2010 and Indonesia in 2012.
