Update: Feb 27, 2014
On the evening of February 24 and early morning of February 25, Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reinstated a festival to pray for good crop of the San Chay ethnic minority group in Dai Duc commune, Tien Yen district.

Dai Duc is the commune where many San Chay people live. The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism chose Dai Duc commune to reinstate the festival, which is related to the spirit and belief of San Chay ethnic people.

The reinstatement aims to preserve and promote a form of folklore belief, which combines special cultural elements of San Chay ethnic people in Quang Ninh province such as customs, worship ceremonies, music, dance and fine arts.

According to secretary of Dai Duc commune Party Committee Ninh A Cun, so far, only two old people in the commune still know exactly the proper sequence of the festival. Mr. Cun said that he hoped in the near future the rites of the festival will be recorded and taught to younger generations.
