Viet Nam greets over 1.6 million foreign tourists in two months

Foreign tourist arrivals to Viet Nam in the first two months this year reached an estimated 1.62 million, a year-on-year rise of 33.4 percent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Of this, tourist arrivals coming to Viet Nam for recreation reached more than 992,000, up 33.4 percent, while those travelling for business or visiting relatives were 271,000 (up 32.2 percent) and 269,000 (up 34.1 percent), respectively.

Over the past two months, almost all countries and territories sent more tourists to Vietnam than during the same period last year.

China topped the tourist markets in Viet Nam, reaching 379,000 arrivals, up 50.1 percent. Other major markets were the Republic of Korea, 168,900 arrivals (up 7.8 percent), Japan, over 112,000 (up 14.1 percent), the US, 102.300 (up 13.2 percent) and Russia, 91,900 (up 70.1 percent).
