Update: Jul 15, 2014
The southern province of Khanh Hoa welcomed over 1.65 million tourists in the first half of 2014, a year-on-year rise of 22%, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

More than 411,000 of the visitors were foreigners, up nearly 33% over the same period last year, the department said. They were mainly from Russia, the Republic of Korea, the US and Australia.

As of May, the province received more than 91,000 Russians, a 50% increase over a year earlier.

Khanh Hoa is planning to collaborate with neighbouring localities of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and five Central Highlands provinces to attract 250,000 Russian visitors this year. The province is also planning to tap further tourism potential in markets like Japan and the Republic of Korea, the department said.
