(TITC) – On July 9, 2014, Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism (MoCST) in coordination with Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an international press conference to introduce “Exciting Viet Nam campaign” at Inter-continental Ha Noi Hotel. The event was part of the plan introducing Viet Nam - a safe, friendly and attractive destination to international friends.
The press conference had the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Ho Anh Tuan; Deputy General Director of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong; Spokesman for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Le Hai Binh; representatives of relevant ministries and departments; Vietnamese and international press agencies.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan introduced achievements of Viet Nam tourism recently and tourism development plans in the coming time. In spite of difficulties and challenges, Viet Nam tourism has successfully maintained its stable growth in terms of number of tourists and tourism revenue.
He also mentioned solutions to maintaining the growth and economic benefits from tourism focusing on establishing tourism hubs; linking local tourism products, improving quality of and diversifying tourism products like culture tourism, eco tourism, sea tourism; especially, improving tourism environment, ensuring security, and safety for tourists.
At the press conference, representatives of press agencies raised questions about the influence of East Sea situation to tourism activities and solutions to ensuring safety and security for tourists. They also paid attention to solutions to improving quality of tourism products, especially islands and sea tourism.
Deputy General Director Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that tourism activities are still operating as usual in Viet Nam including in coastal destinations. Viet Nam is making best efforts to ensure security, safety and service quality for tourists. Besides, the sector is also deploying comprehensive solutions, focusing on training tourism labors, intensifying cooperation between relevant sectors, localities and communities. In addition, Viet Nam will continue to develop islands and sea tourism, as directed by the Minister of MoCST, further improve tourism sea ports to receive big cruise ships.
Within the framework of Exciting Viet Nam campaign, a presstrip with the participation of representatives of Vietnamese and international press agencies will survey tourist attractions in Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang from 9 to 15 July 2014. The trip would be an opportunity for them to get insight into practical tourism situation in Viet Nam, witness Viet Nam as a safe, friendly and attractive destination.
