So far, there have been three ferries running on the route from Tuan Chau to Cat Ba. Like the two current ferries operating on the route, PM-16 ferry weighs 120 tons and has a capacity of 200 passengers and 25 buses or coaches which have less than 50 seats.

Ferries are fully equipped with facilities of lifesaving, fire prevention, health care and communication system with mainland in accordance the standard of travel ferry. In addition to the safety conditions, ferries also have comfortable chairs, toilets and fast-food counters to meet the demand of tourists during the journey.

In early 2014, Tuan Chau ferries have upgraded roofs and increased the number of chairs to 200. Stairs to the upper floors ferries are extended to 1.2 meters. Sound systems are improved for tourists to contemplate the beauty of Ha Long Bay while enjoying the music as well.

Terminals are equipped with cozy chairs, bars serving fast-food and seafood of Ha Long Bay during breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a 5D movie theater for passengers to wait for ferries. The ferry terminals are  also large enough for two ferries to dock at the same time.

With the operation of three ferries, the number of ferry services has been increased from 13-14 to 20 a day including 10 trips from Tuan Chau to Cat Ba and 10 ones from Cat Ba to Tuan Chau. Meanwhile, the time duration has also reduced from 60 minutes to 40-45 minutes per trip.

The first direct ferry Tuan Chau - Cat Ba has launched by Tuan Chau Group since March 2009. This service helps travelers to have more choice to discover Ha Long Bay. Travelers can use the service from 6.am till 6.pm.
