The World Heritage site and ancient town of Hoi An is organising numerous activities in celebration of this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, including sport competitions and musical performances, in order to promote the heritage site’s cultural and historical value for tourists.
On September 6, Hoi An’s Centre for Culture and Sports is hosting a traditional Lion Dance competition at Hoai River Square and showcasing calligraphy and ancient writing.
Moreover, the town’s wards and communes are running their own recreational programmes for young children in celebration of the festival.
The highlight of the festival, the "Hoi An Legendary Night", features a lantern parade and lion dances through the city’s ancient streets.
The festival is taking place from September 6-8.
Hoi An also recently hosted a Bai Choi singing competition, a rare treat for visitors to the Ancient Town, in celebration of National Day (September 2nd)
Since its recognition as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Hoi An has reinvigorated numerous cultural traditions and festivities, which has strengthened the tourism industry.
