Best heritage photos on display in Ho Chi Minh City

The best 100 photos selected from the 2014 Viet Nam Heritage Photo Awards are being displayed at a four-day exhibition which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 22.

The contest, the third of its kind, was launched by the Viet Nam Heritage magazine in July, attracting over 4,400 entries, featuring the nation’s tangible and intangible heritage ranging from architectures and sculptures to traditional festivals and local daily lives.

Editor-in-chief of the magazine Le Thanh Hai said similar exhibitions will be held in other localities such as Can Tho, Da Nang , Nha Trang, and Hanoi.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 10 th Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day, which is November 23.

Viet Nam is currently home to eight cultural and natural World Heritage sites: the Complex of Hue Monument, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long-Ha Noi, the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty and the Trang An Landscape Complex.

The country also has eight items inscribed in the list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, which are Nha Nhac (court music), the Space of gong culture in the Central Highlands, Ca Tru singing, Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs, Xoan singing of Phu Tho province, Giong festival of Phu Dong and Soc temples, the Worship of Hung kings in Phu Tho, and the Art of Don Ca Tai Tu music and song in southern Viet Nam.
