(TITC) - From 22 to 24 January 2015, in Ninh Binh City and districts of Gia Vien, Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh Province), many activities will be organized to honor Trang An Landscape Complex, the highlight of which is the certificate receiving ceremony for Trang An as World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site.
The ceremony will take place at 20h on 23 January 2015 at Conference Centre of Bai Dinh Pagoda (Gia Vien District) with art program “Trang An – Love song of mountains and rivers” that sketches vividly the story of Trang An – unique heritage site not only in Viet Nam but also in Southeast Asia.
The ceremony organization aims to honor the global outstanding values of Trang An Landscape Complex; at the same time promote widely tourism potential of Ninh Binh Province, contribute to attracting more and more domestic and international tourists to Trang An Landscape Complex and other attractive tourist sites in Ninh Binh Province. The ceremony is also considered as the opening event to respond to National Tourism Year 2015 – Thanh Hoa with the theme “Connecting World Heritage in Viet Nam”.
On this occasion, many specific culture, sports and tourism activities will be held such as exhibition on world heritage in Viet Nam; art photo exhibition with the theme “Trang An Landscape Complex – World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site”; Ninh Binh handicraft and trade village fair 2015; international seminar on management, conservation and promotion of world heritage values; launching and display of stamp collection on Trang An Landscape Complex; presentation and promotion program of attractions, tourism products and services in Ninh Binh; survey program of Trang An Landscape Complex; culture, art, sports activities; exhibition of books, newspapers, publications…
Trang An Landscape Complex covers an area of 6,172ha in districts of Hoa Lu, Gia Vien, Nho Quan, Tam Diep Town and Ninh Binh City, about 90km to the south-east of Ha Noi. The complex is surrounded by a buffer zone of 6,268ha, mostly comprising paddy rice fields and villages. As a mixed cultural and natural property, Trang An Landscape Complex contains three protected areas, including Hoa Lu Ancient Citadel Cultural – Historical Area; Trang An – Tam Coc – Bich Dong Scenic Area and Hoa Lu Special-Use Primary Forest.
On 23 June 2014, in Doha (Qatar), World Heritage Committee of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized officially Trang An Landscape Complex as World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site based on three criteria: culture, aestheticism and geology – geomorphology. This is the first mixed heritage site in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia recognized by UNESCO.
