Ethnic traditional customs on Tet to be reinstated in Ha Noi

Traditional ethnic minority Tet customs of the H’Mong, Tay, Thai and Muong will be reinstated at a programme to take place from February 7th to 11th (from the 19th to 23rd day of the last lunar month) at the Culture –Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Son Tay town, Ha Noi.

About 140 heads of village and outstanding artisans of H’Mong and Thai ethnic groups from Son La province, Dao group from Tuyen Quang province, Tay and Nung groups from Lang Son province, Muong group from Hoa Binh, Kinh group from Bac Ninh province will participate in the program itled “Sac xuan tren moi mien to quoc” (Spring in every region nationwide).

The event will also draw the participation of nearly 3,000 students from high schools, colleges and universities in Ha Noi.

The highlight of the event is Chung cake making for poor people during Tet and a cultural exchange among ethnic minority groups.

In addition, traditional crafts and special foods of ethnic groups will be introduced to help visitors understand more about the traditional culture of the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

The event is expected to promote unique ethnic cultures and help foreign tourists understand the variety of Viet Nam's diverse cultures.
